Class Descriptions

How to: Leather Archery Bracer, in the style of the English 15th C. 

Instructor: Lord Oliver of Cleftlands

Make an archery bracer from leather, in the style of those found aboard the English warship, the Mary Rose (or thereabouts ). Class will cover construction and basic decoration of the bracer with stamping and basic period tooling techniques. Tools, leather, buckle or lace, and rivets or needle + thread will be provided, along with handout. Save your arms and sleeves from the ravages of the wayward bowstring. Class is hands-on for 8. $10 for materials. Experience optional. 2 hrs.

Period Board Games

This is a hands-on workshop that explains how to play various board games popular in the Middle Ages with the student making a game to take home. $3 materials fee 1 hour

Knitting in the Middle Ages and Renaissance

Instructor: Mistress Milesent Vibbert

Knitting is a popular hobby modernly, and its origins are in the Middle Ages! Learn about the development of knitting in the middle ages and the sorts of projects your persona might have knit. If there is interest, there will be some hands-on demonstration of techniques and stitches.

Basic Spinning

Instructor: Lady Nadyezhda the Simple

You may never be able to spin straw into gold, but in this class you will learn how to turn carded sheep fleece into wool. Your $3.00 will get you  carded fleece, a CD drop spindle, a leader, and printed instructions, all in a handy plastic bag.

Late Afternoon Harp Tasting

Rumor has it that it's impossible to make a bad sound on a Harp. So join Juliane at the Kavehane for a session that will include a little bit of history, a lot of resources and possibly even the opportunity to play that most celestial of instruments - the Harp.

Tournaments of Chivalry

Instructor: Baroness Catriona nicHugh Mclaey

Money and reputations could be made on the tournament circuit. They were a means to gain power and while the weapons might be blunted, the fighting was hard and dangerous. This class gives an overview of the history of tournaments.
