Brendan at Bardic Madness XI

Despite having been in the Society for three decades, THL Brendan O Corraidhe (seen here making a Complaynt to His Purse at Bardic Madness) is much younger than he appears. Brendan is an 8th-century Irishman traveling on the Continent. He's less concerned about who's King or Pope than he is about where his next meal is coming from, and whether he will be able to trade a tale or song for it, or have to wash dishes afterwards. In the modern world, Corrie Bergeron works at a community college, helping faculty effectively use technology in their classrooms.

Dagonell the Juggler

Dagonell

Dagonell the Juggler is a wandering jongleur from England's War of the Roses, who while trying desperately to stay out of England's War of the Roses, signed up as a sailor aboard the merchant ship, The Sea Lion, selling both goods and story and song until it sank off the western coast of England.

In addition to filk and period music, Dagonell also plays with puppetry, juggling and magic.  He runs the Emerald Lake Puppet Theatre and has been twice Royal Bard of AEthelmearc.  His other interests include Blacksmithing, Cooking, Calligraphy, Heraldry, and Seamanship.  He is a member of the New York State Designer Blacksmiths, The Worshipful Company of AEthelmearc Cooks and Bakers, The AEthelmearc College of Scribes and the AEthelmearc College of Heralds.

David Salley is a programmer for the Seneca Nation of Indians Health Center.  He lives with his wife, Karen in a 140 year old Victorian-era farmhouse.  They are owned by two cats.   The Sea Lion mentioned in the SCA persona story is real.  It's a historical replica of a 16th century Barque. I've spent so much time aboard her, that I incorporated her into my persona story. Her story can be found at http://sealionprojectltd.com/sealion.htm

Juliane at Bardic Roundhouse

Juliane has a late period persona with an early period first name. This gives her the opportunity to be a trans-period clotheshorse. She is very interested in period herbalism and folklore from every culture throughout the middle ages. She is: a fencer and proudly wears the favor her good Lord Llywelyn made for her; a cadet of Warder Brice Colquhoun; and enjoys equestrian games when she has a horse that enjoys it as much as she does.

She is a member of the council of northern Oaken bards, Barista Vente of the Magic Carpet Kavehane, and is a frequent Mistress of the Revels for events in the Cleftlands and Eastwatch. She and Llywelyn serve on the staff of Radagaisus and Ceinwen in AS XLIV-XLV, as Master and Mistress of the Revels. In AS XLVI, she was named co-Kingdom Bardic Champion (with Llywelyn Glyndwr) for the second reign of Eikbrandr and Runa.

Her works are being assembled for publication on this website.

Llywelyn Glyndwr badge Llywelyn Glyndwr is a player and poet, born in Wales around 1540 (his birth year recedes annually so he can remain perpetually in 1599).  He now lives in London and his day job, as secretary to one of Elizabeth's diplomats, allows him to visit many lands and even centuries, and to indulge in his hobby, collecting and wearing the costume of different places and times.  He is particularly grateful for the opportunity of frequent visits to the vicinage of his lady, Juliane Bechaumpe.  He is an archery marshall and an indifferent leatherworker.

Llywelyn's works can be found here.  As of this writing he has not yet been deposed as Fearless Leader of the informal council of northern Oaken bards, and he is the nominal head of the bardic household Gorsedd.  He is perhaps best known to the populace of North Oaken as Barista Vente (Lady Juliane is Barista Trenta) of the Magic Carpet Kavehane. He and Juliane served on the staff of Radagaisus and Ceinwen in AS XLIV-XLV, as Master and Mistress of the Revels, and he serves as provost of both Midrealm's Bardic Madness and the Known World Bardic Collegium at Pennsic. In AS XLVI, he was named co-Kingdom Bardic Champion (with Juliane Bechaumpe) for the second reign of Eikbrandr and Runa.

He holds dual citizenship in the Barony of the Cleftlands (Cleveland, Ohio) and the Shire of Eastwatch (Chardon, Ohio).

Robin McCauley

Photo of Robin McCauley

Lord Commodore Robin McCauley is a known bard of ill repute.  Often found where drink is tossed in a carefree fashion, or where revolutions and uprisings are found.  Specializing in writing or merely performing songs that pull on the heart strings of oppression or jocularity, and known to pull songs into existence without notice.  A member of the merciless mercenary bardic coalition known as Oaken's Eleven, he will write for you a tune, diddy, jingle, tale or anything of your choice - for a price.....  should you wish to have an evening of entertainment unparalleled, and if you can find him, you just be able to hire - well, you get the picture.  Just be fore-warned, he is a notorious rum sob, beer snob and whiskey snob, so keep that in mind when trying to entice him.

When not running around wrecking havoc alone, he truly enjoys spending time playing music with his wonderful, beautiful and talented lady, Lady Rayne of Tara - who exceeds his abilities as a bard to such an extent that there is no competition.  And if not with her, he can found performing with a band known as Tara's Fire (www.tarasfire.net).

Robin is also a perpetual teacher of bardic arts, and offers classes of varied types - including bodhran (beginner through advanced), songwriting and performance.

In addition to this, he also is the founder of the Chalkman in the Key of D music competition at Pennsic and acts as their music director and the founder the annual bardic competition in the Shire of Rivenvale, and still works as an assistant to the show.

Robin McCauley (aka Robin of the Whip, aka The Dread Reverend, aka a few other things not to be listed) is also a heavy weapons marshal, and head of the mercenary unit known as the Roughnecks, as well as a member of the informal council of northern Oaken Bards, the bardic household Gorsedd, and serves the populace as Barista Socio of the Magic Carpet Kavehane.

Greg Stumbo works with the band Tara's Fire mundanely, as well as running a small production company in fleeting moments of spare time.  His day job involves cell phones towers and is far to mundane for posting.

Tyzes "Zsof" Sofia

Photo of Tyzes Sofia

THL Tyzes "Zsof" Sofia is a 16th century Hungarian with a flair for the dramatic. She is the founder and artistic director of the Known World Players (www.karolinekramer.com/kwplayers), a theatre troupe that performs at Pennsic every year. She had the honor of being Kingdom bard for EikBrandr and Runa.

On the non-bardic front, she is the current Kingdom Minister of Youth, a job that keeps her so busy she hasn't been able to write anything new since May. *grin* She spends her time with the Barony of the Cleftlands and the Barony of Brendoken.

Mundanely, Karoline Kramer Gould is the music director for "The Heights" on WJCU in Cleveland. She's happily married and has 2 kids and 4 cats.

Ulfr Gangler

email

Ulfr Gangler is the son of a camp follower of the Varangian Guard. Not having an inheritance to look forward to, he took to the road, earning his keep with the strength of his thews and the quickness of his mind. He has been many things: herald, fighter, armorer, silversmith, ambassador, and courtier, to name a few.  As a bard, Ulfr like to bring a bit of drama to his singing, and he enjoys songs and stories that really grab you and don't let go... Recently, Ulfr was Shire Bard of the Shire of Rivenvale, and participated in the first NOBLE prize competition. He is also the lead singer for the band Tara's Fire (www.tarasfire.net) Mundanely, Ray Marks teaches High School Physics and Biology in Youngstown Ohio, where he gets to teach siege weaponry to impressionable young minds. He lives in Girard with his wife and four-legged children (four cats and a dog) - he is waiting for the permits so he can open his home as a petting zoo. He also thinks that Robin's Bio on this page is a little long-winded.
