Class Descriptions (alphabetically)

A&S Performance Criteria
Instructor: Mistress Halla of Mugmort

A mini A&S Faire to test the proposed criteria for performance-based A&S submissions. We need 3-4 "entrants" and as many judges as possible. Contact Mistress Halla (email) if you're interested.

Bardic IS Storytelling
Instructor: Mistress Tyzes Sofia

All performance is a form of storytelling. In this discussion we will look at each performance type and how to focus on the story within. Participants are encouraged to bring examples to work on.

Five Easy Ways to Get Your Performance to the Next Level
Instructor: Baron William of Fairhaven, KSCA, OP

Singers or musicians welcome - this class helps with all parts of bardic performance. This class will include discussion and practice with a handout to take with you. (Be prepared with a short piece to perform.)

Improv Games
Instructor: Master John Inchingham

Master John Inchingham the Fool introduces newcomers to the wonders of improvisation and provides veteran performers with a chance to test their abilities.  Improvisation is taught both as an art-form in and of itself and as a means of creating ideas for the aspiring bard (and for the seasoned tunesmith with writer’s block).  The class is fun and informal.  Come prepared to move and to make a fool of yourself!

Inner Motion - Physical Improvisation for the Masses
Instructor: THL Juliane Bechaumpe

Whether you act, sing, tell stories, dance, play a musical instrument, or just want to move in the most stunning manner possible in a houppelande, bring a new dimension to your art by exploring your own personal  movement potential. All physical abilities welcome. There may be ground work involved, but all exercises can be adapted for chairs.

Pulling the Teeth Out Of Stage Fright
Instructor: THL Lucia Elena Braganza

The vast majority of us experience SOME level of stage fright or performance anxiety, whether it's in a bardic space, or the CEO's office. We'll pin down this ugly-muggly monster, dissect some of the elements of anxiety, wrestle our most common buggaboos into the daylight, and practice some spook-busting techniques.

SCA Urban Legends
Instructors: THL Allegra Ginevra Soave da Napoli and Mistress Halla of Mugmort

Roundtable on SCA's urban legends and how they contribute to our bardic/performing arts culture.

Skomorokh: the Comedic Minstrel Theatre of Russia
Instructors: Lord Niccolo Bartolazzi

With an unbroken lineage spanning more than six centuries, learn of the skomorokhi, the oft persecuted minstrels, buffoons, harlequins, musicians, and puppeteers of medieval and Renaissance Russia!
